The site is off U.S. Highway 21 at Interstate 77, near the new Lowe’s Cos. Inc. corporate complex. The Lowe’s headquarters is expected to eventually have as many as 8,000 employees, and that growth is bound to make it a magnet for townhome buyers, says local real estate analyst Charles Dalton of Carolinas Real Data.
“I don’t know that it would ever rival University Research Park as an employment center, but it’s bound to be a big draw up there,” Dalton says.
The townhome tract is also near Lake Norman Regional Medical Center and the spinoff employment associated with several lake-area NASCAR operations, says Bart Hopper, a New South partner who’s coordinating the development.
